Water system installation in Barangay Malaintos, Dolores, Eastern Samar. A stable water supply for the 52 families residing in GK Libanan

Malaintos, Dolores, Eastern Samar

Water System, Environment, Health

The GK Libanan Village, which consists of around 52 residences, was given to local beneficiaries on March 24, 2008. The neighbourhood is located 80 meters from the rice fields and 100 meters from the main highway. The community's primary source of income is framing.

To keep their daily water usage, whether for house or farm duties, the resident's routine would be to get water from a nearby deep well throughout the day.

A stable and constant water supply remains to be one of the challenges that the community is facing. To have a modern and reliable water supply, the source needs to be improved and dug up from the ground.

The deep well has a constant water supply throughout the rainy season, but it goes dry during the dry season, leaving them with little to no water supply. They have to wait for the well's water level to increase on these days, which limits the amount of work they can get done for their home and farm. They are consequently looking for another source that can provide water with all year round. They also want to install a few faucets in primary locations for the residents' convenience to minimize the burden of transporting significant volumes of water.

This fundraising initiative intends to provide a modern and reliable water system to alleviate the strain of fetching water, especially during the dry season, for the residents of GK Libanan.

Your generosity will have an immense impact on the lives of those who benefit from this campaign.

When an act of kindness multiplies, it helps more people. Everyone can help, no matter how small or big. As long as it comes from the heart, we can persuade more people to help. Financial scarcity is not an obstacle to helping those who are in need.

The construction of the water system in GK Libanan began on April 30, 2023, and was completed on November 30, 2023. This new water system has marked the beginning of a new era for the residents. They can now carry out their daily activities with ease because they have access to a reliable water source.

During the construction, the locals encountered some difficulties. First is the water source; second is the availability of supplies and materials; and lastly is the skilled labour force. However, these challenges did not deter the villagers from starting work on their new water source. They searched for another possible water source, and after confirming the steadiness of the water supply, they began digging. They also looked for hardware in the city to obtain the materials they needed to construct the water system. The operation team had discussions with the villagers about the project and schedule layouts, and they also searched for skilled workers to begin the construction.

We are immensely thankful for all the efforts put into making this project a reality. It is truly heartwarming to see the impact we can make when we come together for a common goal. The recipients of this project are sincerely appreciative of GK USA and every single person involved. Let's continue to cultivate our spirit of generosity and work towards building even stronger and more resilient communities.
