Community leaders and volunteers respond to hunger among Filipino children in their barangay. They set up a community kitchen to cook daily nutritious lunch meals for 300 kids.
In the San Luis kitchen, food will be prepared in the community kitchen. Kitchen volunteers would serve the meals by going house to house in a tricycle/van with the food cauldrons and then serve the meals to the kids. The kitchen is also a hub for bayanihan where volunteers, local government units, partners and leaders are essential for the program to work.
You can feed one child in Brgy. San Sebastian, San Luis, Pampanga for only Php 20.00 per meal. The community kitchen aims to provide meals for at least 120 days to kids ages 1 – 12 years old.
Hunger, especially among children, is a significant roadblock that the poor have to overcome on a daily basis. Through Kusina ng Kalinga (Care Kitchens), we build caring communities for our young. It is where lunchboxes or plates don’t just contain meals, but also carry the commitment to care together until no child is left hungry. This bayanihan effort is powered by Kusina ng Kalinga (KnK), Gawad Kalinga’s anti-hunger program.
